How It Works

Call and tell us what you’d like to learn to make. Matt will send you a list of menus to choose from based on your preferences. The cooking classes include an extensive repertoire that consists of recipes from Europe, the Middle East and the Americas. You can choose up to five dishes that comprise a complete menu. You can also opt to focus on a category of cooking, like pastry, fish, appetizers or desserts if you so choose. Just let us know what you’d like to learn, and how many people you expect for the class.

The shopping list will be sent to you a week before the class. If you like, Matt can shop with you for a nominal fee. The list of ingredients for your private class will also include any equipment you will need. Most of the time we use what is in the average home kitchen, but if something is unusual Matt will bring it with him, along with tips on where to buy the item should you decide you’d like to.

Matt will arrive about 45 minutes before the private cooking lessons begin. He’ll show the guests how to set up the kitchen with a station for each recipe, and all the ingredients will be arranged according to the recipe. Your friends simply show up with their cutting board, knife and apron. They will be briefed on the menu, and a short demo will be done for important cooking techniques. Everyone washes their hands and decides where to apply their skills, or for some, try something completely new, such as baking a cake for the first time. And at the end of the lively and informative session, everyone gets to eat!
